A celebration of the life of Richard Hugh “Rick” Gowin, 57 of Tyler, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, February 10, 2012 in the chapel of Burks Walker Tippit Funeral Home.  He will be laid to rest at Cathedral in the Pines Cemetery.

  Rick went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, February 7, 2012 at his home in Tyler.  He was born January 9, 1955 in Dallas to the late Robert Wilfred and Elizabeth Bosworth Gowin.

  Rick is survived by his loving family, a son, Brandon Gowin and his mother, Kathy Wilson of Red Oak; by a son and daughter, Garrett and Alex Gowin and their mother, Ginger Fair of Flint; a brother, Bob Gowin of Austin and his Children, Rob and Gennie; a grandson, Charles Gowin and a special friend, Chris Roberts of Lake Palestine.

 Rick was an Entrepreneur at heart.  He was a dedicated and hard working man.  Rick really found his niche as owner of Fastsigns.  He truly loved working with his clients and employees.  After 9/11, Rick designed a “God Bless America” Bumper sticker and gave thousands of them away.  You can still see them on cars today.  He most recently worked at Dillard’s.  He continued to work there, giving it his all until he just couldn’t anymore.  He will be remembered as a compassionate and caring man and a very loving father.

 The family will receive friends at Burks Walker Tippit from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Thursday evening.  Memorials may be made to the Hospice of East Texas Foundation, 4111 University Blvd., Tyler 75701.
