Graveside services for Sam P. (Bill) Ford, 99, Tyler, are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Sunday, February 5, 2012 at Pine Springs Cemetery with the Rev. Steve Swords officiating under the direction of Burks Walker Tippit Funeral Directors, Tyler.
Sam was born November 30, 1912 in Tyler to the late Samuel and Bessie Alston Ford, and passed away February 1, 2012 at The Hospice of East Texas HomePlace.
He served in the 68th Army Air Force Weather Station during WWII as an in flight weather observer and received a Bronze Star. Later he would work for the North Tyler Nursery as office manager.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Howard, Mark, and Tim; and sister, Thelma Ford Morrow.
Survivors include nephews, Joe Ford, Charles Morrow, Howard Ray Ford, and Henry Ford, all of Tyler; nieces, Linda Ford Woods of Tyler and JoAnn Ford Roth of Marshall.
Honorary pallbearers will be Ed Specht, Steve Specht, Joe Specht, Steve Swords, and Vickie Specht Swords.
In lieu of Flowers, memorials may be made to Pine Springs Cemetery, 4535 CR 328 E., Tyler, 75708.
