Janie Adora Shannon
June 13, 2010

A celebration and memorial service for Janie Adora Shannon, 83 of Tyler, will be held on Tuesday, June 22, 2010 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at 4801 Downing Street in Tyler.
Mrs. Shannon went to be with her Lord and savior on Sunday, June 13th in Tyler. She was born March 18, 1927 in Ardmore, Tenn. to the late Dr. Wright Mims and Addie Ora Brown Mims. Adora attended college in Murry, Tenn. where she played basketball. She has lived in Tyler since the 60s and was a real estate agent in Tyler. Mrs. Shannon was a member of the Arboretum Inc., in 2008 the Arboretum nature center was renamed the Adora Shannon Nature Center in her honor. Mrs. Shannon was also a member of the Woodmen of the World Lodge in Tyler, and was a member of Green Acres Baptist Church and the Joy Sunday school class. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Brown Mims and Morgan Mims and by a sister, Elizabeth Pate. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Mrs. Shannon’s loving family who survives her includes two sons and daughters-in-laws, Patrick J. and Marilyn Shannon and Randall and Sally Shannon; and two grandchildren, Daniel Shannon and Whitney Patterson and her husband, Tony.

Virginia R. Griffin

Funeral services for Virginia R. Griffin, 83 of Whitehouse, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 11, 2010 at the Burks Walker Tippit Funeral Chapel with Rev. Sherman Mayfield, Bro. Rick Syndor and Bro. Pat Graham officiating. Burial will follow at Whitehouse Cemetery.
Virginia passed away on Tuesday, June 8, 2010 in Tyler. She was born in Bascom to the late Clyde Presley and Gertrude B. Harris Acker. Virginia was a member of Gateway Baptist Church in Whitehouse and retired after 28 years of service from General Electric and Trane. She was preceded in death by her sister, Floybelle Baggett and brothers, Hubert and Frank Acker.
Mrs. Griffin is survived by her husband of 64 years, Weldon Griffin of Whitehouse; son and daughter-in-law, Glen and Debbie Griffin of Whitehouse; daughters and sons-in-law, Donna and Gregg Fairbank, Diane and Don Whitesides, all of Whitehouse; sisters, Doris Smith of Whitehouse and Mary Jo Whitaker of Chapel Hill; brother, Jerry Acker of Whitehouse; grandchildren, Ricky Rushing, Teresa Kafka and husband Butch, Amy Bazan and husband Ralph, Dusty Whitesides and wife Amanda, Traci Akin and husband Nick, LeaAnn Sebring and husband Jason; great-granchildren, Nykole, Zach, Destiny and Hunter Kafka, Colton Akin, Blake Whitesides, and Adalyn Bazan.
Pallbearers will include Ricky Rushing, Butch Kafka, Ralph Bazan, Dusty Whitesides, Nick Akin, Jason Sebring and Zach Kafka. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the building fund at Gateway Baptist Church 101 Leisure Ln Whitehouse, TX 75791.

 
 
Marilyn Beth Williams

Funeral services for Marilyn Beth Williams, 75 of Tyler, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, June 10, 2010 at the Burks Walker Tippit Funeral Chapel with Jimmy Jackson officiating and under the direction of Burks Walker Tippit Funeral Home.
Marilyn passed away on Monday, June 7, 2010 in Tyler. She was born in Ft. Worth to the late A. O. and Hannah Thompson Harrison. Marilyn was a member of Green Acres Baptist Church and lived in Tyler since 1950. She was a retired medical assistant. She was preceded in death by her husband Billy S. Williams, a daughter Lynda Liebel, and a daughter-in-law Donna Williams.
Survivors include son, Stephen Williams of Tyler; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Pallbearers will be grandsons and nephews. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Graveside services for infant Marcos Ian Wait-Chaves will be held at 9:00 a.m. Wednesday at Cathedral in the Pines cemetery under the direction of Burks Walker Tippit Funeral Directors.
Marcos was born and passed away on June 5, 2010 in Tyler.
Survivors include his parents, Jared Wait and Amalia Chaves-Venegas; grandparents, Jan & Jean Wait, Bautista Chaves and Maria Venegas; uncle and aunt, Jeremy and Kristina Wait; and numerous grieving aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

 
 
Philomena O. McVan

Memorial service for Philomena O. McVan, 64, of Whitehouse, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 4th 2010 at the Burks Walker Tippit Funeral Chapel.
Philomena passed away on Wednesday, June 2nd, 2010 in Tyler. She was born on July 14th, 1945 in Dublin, Ireland to the late John and Alice O’Brien Fitzpatrick and was a member of Cathedral Immaculate Conception. She was a housewife and homemaker and previously lived in Malahide, County Dublin, Ireland, Akron, OH and Lawton, OK.
Survivors include husband, Thomas McVan of Whitehouse; sons, Thomas G. McVan and wife Courtney of Pflugerville, Brian McVan and wife Margaret of Waco, Philip McVan of Pascagoula, MS; daughter, Cathy Story and husband Jim of Round Rock; brother, Alan Fitzpatrick of London, England; sisters, Alice Sheridan of Ireland, Rose Ryan of Ireland and Bernadette Gilbreath of Fresno, CA; and grandchildren, Brenna, Tyler, Daniel, Madison, Chandler, Malachi, Aidan, Camryn, Theron, and Greyson.

 
 
Frances H. Moore

Services for Frances H. Moore, 79 of Tyler, are scheduled for 1:00 p.m. Friday in the Chapel of Burks Walker Tippit Funeral Home, Tyler. The family will receive friends from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home. Services will also be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday at Barham Funeral Home in Meridian, Miss. Burial will be at Liberty Cemetery in the Duffee community.
Mrs. Moore went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, May 31, 2010 in Tyler. She was born November 19, 1930 in Duffee, Mississippi to the late John F. and Emma Speed Huddleston. She was a retired R.N. and was director of Nurses at Colonial Manor Nursing Center in Tyler, was a homemaker and a member of West Erwin Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by brothers and sisters, Lanier, Falby, Claude, Walter, Nettie, Lee and Margaret.
Survivors include a son, James C. Moore of Arlington; two daughters and a son-in-law, Arleen and Charles Marsden of Douglasville, GA. And Calista Moore of Tyler; five sisters, Ann Allen of SourLake, Thellis Munn of Meridian, Miss, Evelyn Fortier, Louise Ledford and Johnnie Clogher all of Atlanta, GA.; two grandchildren, James Edward Marsden and Jennifer Hope Perrin and her husband, Sananda; and one great-granddaughter, Willow Ruth Perrin.

Wenford Hollis Wright
May 31, 2010

Services for Wenford Wright, 87 of Tyler are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Thursday in Burks Walker Tippit Chapel with Don Crawford officiating. Burial will be in Cathedral in the Pines Cemetery under the direction of Burks Walker Tippit Funeral Directors.
Mr. Wright, passed away May 31 in a local hospital. He was born September 6, 1922 in Limestone County, AL. to the late Harlan and Lucy Wright.

He was a member of West Erwin Church of Christ , he served in the 5th Army in Italy during WWII and received the Bronze Star, and retired from Tyler Pipe after many years of services.

He is preceded in death by his wife Helen Wright, three brothers, four sisters and one grandchild.

He is survived by son and daughter-in-law David and Glenda Wright of Tyler ,son Ray Wright of Florida; daughter and son-in-law Glenda Ann and Hugh Mills of Tyler ; sister Idell Hart of Lubbock and four grandchildren, six great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

Pallbearers will be Gene Clifton, Jim Mills, Randy and Dylan Humphrey.

The family will receive friends at Burks Walker Tippit Wednesday from 6-7:30 pm

Alma Brown

Graveside services for Alma Brown, 86 of Tyler, will be 11:30 a.m. Saturday, May 29, 2010 at Cathedral in the Pines Cemetery with Bro. Lou Gary Thomas officiating under direction of Burks Walker Tippit Funeral Home. Visitation will be at 11:00 a.m. until service time at the Cemetery.
Alma died Monday, May 24th in Lindale. She was born February 16, 1924 in Red Springs, was a homemaker and a Methodist. She was preceded by husband, John W. Brown, and by twins, John Jr. and Janice Brown.
Survivors are three daughters and a son-in-law; JoAnn and J.T. Audas, Linda Dell Brown and Gloria Jeanne Brown; a brother, John Emmett Preddy, Jr. and his wife, Barbara Nell; two grandsons and their wives; John T. & Kelly Audas and Jimmy and Rayne Audas; and 4 great-grandchildren.

 
 

Irvin Mrazek

Graveside services for Irvin Mrazek, 92, Tyler, TX, are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Tyler Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Burks Walker Tippit Funeral Directors, Tyler.
Irvin was born February 24, 1918 in Binghamton, NY to the late Martin & Helen Mrazek. He passed away May 22, 2010 in Tyler.
He worked for Endicott Johnson and Seary Manufacturing and served in the Army and the Navy.
Survivors include his wife, Ethel Mrazek of Tyler; son, Robert Mrazek of Carrollton, TX; daughter, Joyce Mrazek Wedgeworth and husband Allen of Tyler; sister, Helen Drum of Endicott, NY; two grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by brothers, Millard and Steven Mrazek.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.

 
 
A.K. 'Pop-Pop' Boots Wilson
May 21, 2010

Funeral services for A.K. Wilson, 71, are scheduled for 2:30pm Sunday May 23, 2010 at Burks Walker Tippit Funeral home in Tyler with Bro. Park Robertson officiating.

AK has gone fishing with his Lord and Savior in heaven on Wednesday May 19, 2010 in Tyler. He was born October 10, 1938 in Wood County to the late Curtis and Reba Wilson. He was preceded in death also by two brothers, Robert Wilson and Marion Wilson.

AK was currently employed by Elite Lab in Tyler as a courier. He was a Hawkins High School graduate and attended TJC in Tyler. He retired from National Homes, University of Texas-Tyler and as a self-employed truck driver. He loved family, fishing, and his farm.

He is survived by his Sweetheart of 53 years, Janie Wilson, daughter Kim Wilson, son Robert Wilson. Grandchildren Michael Fuller and wife Lalita, Lindsey Baker and husband Shaun, Chad Wilson and wife Heather and Chase Wilson and wife Jessica. Great Grandchildren who were his pride and joy, Ally Baker, Landon Fuller, Charles and Cason Wilson and soon to be Baby Hannah due in June 2010. Also brothers George Wilson and wife Vivian, Densal Wilson, Jerry Wilson and sister Darlene Haggerton. He is also survived by his extended family, Cris Cansler, Stasha, Dylan and Dalton Glasco, Chance, Crystal, Payton and Logan Cansler, Erwin Ramos, Charlotte and Cree Burns.

AK never met a stranger and will be missed tremendously by those who knew him. He loved his dogs, Bailee, Bonnie, Buddy, and Bobby John as well as his goats, donkeys and horses. The "Farm" and having his family around him was when he was the happiest.

Pallbearers will be, Michael Fuller, Shaun Baker, Chad Wilson, Chase Wilson, Chance Cansler, Erwin Ramos and Lane Inman. Honorary pallbearers are Ally Baker, Landon Fuller, Charlie and Cason Wilson, Payton and Logan Cansler, Cree Burns, Jerry and Ray Slagle, and Danny Cater.

Thanks to Elite Lab, an A K Wilson Memorial Scholarship will be awarded annually.

Family will recieve friends on Saturday May 22, 2010 from 5pm-7pm at the funeral home.
