Pearl Eades Seward
April 10, 2010

Memorial services for Pearl Irene Eades-Seward, 86 of Tyler will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday in the Chapel of Hospice of East Texas Homeplace. Local arrangements under direction of Burks Walker Tippit Funeral Directors, Tyler.
Mrs. Seward died Saturday, April 10th in Tyler. She was born September 25, 1923 in Selman, OK. to the late Jesse and Sadie Ethel Anderson Eades. She has lived in Tyler the past 30 years, moving here from Louisiana. She was a housewife and homemaker, and was a member of Lindale Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Calvin Bolton Seward; an infant daughter, Gail Seward and a sister, Opal Fern Eades Barnett.
Survivors include 2 sons, Carl and Bo Seward; 2 daughters, Sandra French and Linda Dyer; 3 brothers, Jesse, Everett and Odie Eades; 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of East Texas Foundation, 4111 University Blvd., Tyler 75701.
The family will receive friends at the home of Linda and Jack Dyer, 5707 Spring Creek Drive, Tyler, from 3 to 7 p.m. following the service.

 
 
Sonya 'Sam' Morgan
April 9, 2010

Memorial services for Sonya ‘Sam’ Morgan, 75, Chapel Hill, are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Fairwood United Methodist Church with Rev. Rick Tate officiating.

Sam was born December 26, 1934 in Tyler to the late D.F. and Ruby Atchley, and passed away peacefully on April 9, 2010. She was a member of Fairwood United Methodist Church where she was the church secretary for 20 years before her retirement.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Freya Jean Bolton.

Survivors include her husband of 57 years, Bob Morgan; sons and spouses, David Bruce & Jessica Morgan of Whitehouse, Steven Lyle & Dawn Morgan of Whitehouse, Michael Paul & Amanda Morgan of Chapel Hill; sister-in-law, Mary Margaret Slaton of Homer, GA; and grandchildren, Michael Paul Morgan, Jr. and Elizabeth Haley Morgan.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Fairwood United Methodist Church 1712 Old Omen Road, Tyler, 75701.

 
 
Ruthie Rains Dixon
April 9, 2010

After living with Alzheimers Disease, Ruthie Rains Dixon, born February 14, 1933, passed from this earth into the loving arms of her Heavenly Father and her husband who were both waiting for her with open arms. She is finally at peace and at rest.
Ruthie was born to the late Thomas Levi and Ruth Carswell Rains in Crockett, Texas. After her father died at a young age, her mother married William Arnold DuBose who loved Ruthie as his own daughter. She was adored by her parents and then by her beloved husband, Marvin Gene Dixon, whom she married on July 4, 1953. They enjoyed almost 48 years together before his death in 2000.
Ruthie is survived by her daughter, Delicia Dixon Carnes and son-in-law Darren Carnes and her wonderful grandson, Zachary (Zac) Carnes all of Chandler. She is also survived by several aunts, uncles and many, many cousins and friends.
Ruthie’s family is thankful to Dr. Wiley Roosth and his staff for all the great care over these many years, and also to the staff of The Hamptons at Pine Forest and Hospice of East Texas for the love, care and concern shown to Ruthie and to them during her journey into eternity. While her road was rough, these wonderful people brought her joy in her final months and days.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Burks Walker Tippit Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Cathedral in the Pines Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Roddy Sloan, Clayton Thornton, Bill Hughes, Charles Clayton, Walter Ballou, and Johnny Luker. Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Wiley Roosth and Fred Wernette.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Bertie Mae Ray
April 8, 2010

Graveside services for Bertie Mae Ray, 92, of Whitehouse, will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday at Whitehouse Cemetery with J.C. Tate officiating. Mrs. Ray died April 8, 2010 in a Whitehouse Nursing Home. Services under the direction of Burks Walker Tippit Funeral Home.

She was born January 13, 1918 to the late James Earl and Fannie E. Mitchum in Whitehouse. She was a homemaker and the oldest charter member of Whitehouse Church of Christ.

Mrs. Ray is preceded in death by husband of 53 years, James L. Ray, two brothers Tommy and Eston Mitchum and one sister Eva Terry.

She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law David and Connie Ray of Tyler; two daughters and sons-in-law, Evelyn and Jim Todd and Jamie and Clarence Harris all of Tyler; two sisters Mary Ray and Edna Dudley; eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends 4 – 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Martha Alma Wedgeworth
April 6, 2010

Graveside services for Martha Alma Wedgeworth, 88 Tyler, are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Saturday at Bascom Cemetery with Chaplain Dale Purdy officiating, under the direction of Burks Walker Tippit Funeral Directors, Tyler.
Martha was born June 16, 1921 in Houston to the late Leslie and Martha Ella Smith. She passed away peacefully on April 6, 2010 in Tyler. She was a homemaker and enjoyed fishing at any time.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Newton Wedgeworth; sons, Patrick Lee and Walter Everett Wedgeworth; daughter, Marilyn Frances Wedgeworth Cain; and brothers, Arthur A. and Leslie Smith.
Survivors include her children, Allen Wedgeworth and wife Joyce of Tyler, Louise Hartman and husband Danny of Lufkin, Roger Dale Wedgeworth of Houston and Bill David Wedgeworth of Tyler; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.
Her grandsons will serve as honorary pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

 
 
Ruth Warren

Graveside services for Ruth Warren will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday at Whitehouse Cemetery with Rev. Tony Hays officiating under direction of Burks Walker Tippit Funeral Home, Tyler.
Ruth Warren was born on November 11, 1923 in Whitehouse, Texas, to the late William Thomas Hall, Sr. and Cora Ann Brazeal. She passed away on April 5, 2010 at age 86.
Mrs. Warren was a nurse dedicated to taking care of people, and loved by all that knew her. She retired from nursing after working at the Whitehouse Clinic for many years.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 51years, Lewie Warren. She was also preceded in death by one brother, William Thomas Hall, Jr., and one sister, Corile McElroy.
Survivors include one son, Dennis Warren and wife, Linda of Whitehouse; one Daughter, Anita Higgins and husband Harold Higgins, Jr., of Whitehouse. She is survived by five grandchildren: Belinda Wade and Jamie Warren of Whitehouse, Amanda Kubala of Pearland, Paige Liden of Tyler and Taylor Higgins of San Diego, CA, two great grand children and several nieces and nephews.
Honorary pallbearers are: Ronny McElroy, Tommy McElroy, Tommy Hall, Wes Hall, Jamie Warren and Taylor Higgins. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Wednesday evening.

 
 
Lonnie Innmon
April 4, 2010

Services for Lonnie Laprelle Innmon, Jr., 65 of Ben Wheeler, will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 10th at the Heritage Trail Cowboy Church in Ben Wheeler, with Rev. C.R. Chapman officiating, under direction of Burks Walker Tippit Funeral Directors. The family will receive friends at the Church from 10-11 a.m., one hour prior to service.
Mr. Innmon died, Easter Sunday, April 4, 2010 in Tyler. He was born August 28, 1944 in Temple to the late Lonnie L. and Janie Charlene Self Innmon, Sr. He was raised in Rogers, Texas. He was a horse trainer and was owner/operator of an air conditioning and heating contracting company, and was a member of the Heritage Trail Cowboy Church.
Survivors include his wife, Martha Innmon of Ben Wheeler; a son and daughter-in-law, Lonnie Duane and Gwendolyn Innmon of Crosby; a step-son, James Duane Alston of San Diego; 2 brothers and sisters-in-laws, Leroy and Elaine Innmon of Laguna Niguel, CA. and Jacky and Linda Innmon of Houston; a sister and brother-in-law, Brenda and Billy Burks of Mertzen; 3 grandchildren, Brittany Nicole, Shelby Lynn and Gavin Wesley; and many nieces & nephews.

Marion Carruthers
April 3, 2010

Services for Marion Carruthers, of Tyler, are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at Noonday United Methodist Church, with Rev. Christi Conway officiating. Burial will be in Noonday Cemetery under the direction of Burks Walker TippitFuneral Home.

Mr. Carruthers, passed away April 3, 2010. He was born October 5, 1928 in Mabank to the late Robert and Mary Ann Carruthers.

He retired from Howe-Baker Engineer’s, was in the Army during the Korean conflict and was a long time member of Noonday United Methodist Church.

Mr. Carruthers, is survived by his wife of 56 years, Marcia Carruthers; son, Billy Barham; daughters and son in laws, Mary and Luther Hendrix and Rhonda and Mark McBride; grandchildren, Robbie Barham, Wes McBride and his wife, Michelle, Matt McBride and Danvelle Hendrix; great grandchildren, Caden McBride, Brooklyn McBride and Molly Barham; brothers, J.C. Carruthers and Sherman Carruthers; sisters, Cassie Pippin and Jean Old.

Pallbearers are Wes McBride, Matt McBride, Austin Elliott, Lara Elliott, Charles Tomlinson, Billy Jack Barham, Luther Hendrix, Mark McBride and Carter Elliott.

Honorary pallbearers are sister- in- law, Martha Jo Tomlinson and brother- in- law’s, Larry Tomlinson, and wife Beverly, and James Tomlinson.

The family will receive friends Monday at Burks Walker Tippit from 5:30- 7 p.m.

Mack Goolsbee
April 3, 2010

Services for Mack Goolsbee, 81 of Winona, will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Friendly Baptist Church with Rev. Roger Gage, Rev. Sherman Mayfield, Greg Selman and Dr. Prentis McGee officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery under direction of Burks Walker Tipipt Funeral Directors.
Mack celebrated his homegoing to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, April 3, 2010 in Winona, with his loving family surrounding him. He entered this life March 3, 1929 in Jacksonville to the late William A. and Pearl Lyle Goolsbee. He has lived in Tyler most all his life, graduating from Tyler High School and Tyler Commercial College. He was the retired owner/operator of Goolsbee Tire Service with 56 years of service to this community. His family carries on his legacy. He was a member of the Winona Masonic Lodge, and the Clarksville City Baptist Church in Gladewater. He was preceded in death by his brother, Jack Goolsbee.
Mack is survived by his loving family; his wife of 56 years, Virginia Sue Goolsbee of Winona; a son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Susan Goolsbee of Tyler; 2 daughters and a son-in-law, Rheanne Goolsbee of Tyler and Martha and Danny Holley of Winona; a sister, Elizabeth Barbee of Tyler; Brother-in-law, Howard Adams and wife, Mary of Troup and brother-in-law, John Adams and wife, Shirley of Bullard; 5 grandchildren, Stephen and wife, Whitney Goolsbee of Arlington, Sarah Goolsbee and Seth Goolsbee both of Tyler, Joshua Holley and Zachary Holley both of Winona; a great-granddaughter, Summer Goolsbee of Arlington; and many Nieces and Nephews.
Pallbearers will be Stephen Goolsbee, Joshua Holley, Seth Goolsbee, Zachary Holley, Colt Barber and Glenn Hodges. Honorary pallbearers are J.W. Clayton, Buddy Bozeman, Bill Williams, J. Pepper, George Copeland, Henry Sprouls, Archie Whitfield, John Lanham, Bob Files and the Deacons of Clarksville City Baptist Church.

Kathy Parker Stephens
April 2, 2010

Memorial services for Kathy Parker Stephens, 51 of Tyler, are scheduled for 4:00 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of Burks Walker Tippit Funeral Home.

Kathy was born February 9, 1959 in Tyler. She was a member of East Tyler Baptist Church and graduated from John Tyler High School, then later attended Lon Morris where she was a member of the golf team.

She was a loving wife, mother, and sister. No one was ever in need when she was near. She devoted herself to take care of anyone, and loved everyone.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Brady & Frances Parker.

Survivors include her husband of 8 years, Kerry Mike Stephens; children, Clint Smith and wife Somer of Bullard, Parker Smith of Flint, Peyton Stephens and wife Amber, Matthew and Andrew Stephens, all of Tyler; brothers and spouses, Jimmy and Bonnie Parker of Conroe, Hank and Jeanne Parker of Tyler, Owen and Jennifer Parker of Pagosa Springs, Co, Pat and Jill parker of Whitehouse; and her grandchildren, Katie and Claire Smith, Danielle, Jonathan, Alyssa, and Ashlyn Reyes; and numerous nieces and nephews.
